Holiday Spirit

In honor of this mornings snow flurries, I felt the need to post about my favorite Christmas holiday candy. Much like candy corn reminds me of Halloween, this candy always brings me into the Christmas spirit! What is white, red, and sticky all over?

CANDY CANES!!! Christmas is without a doubt my favorite holiday. I love the spirit of it all. So much love all around (ok not counting the family get togethers!). But candy canes are what really capture the spirit of Christmas. When I think about Christmas, I think about little kids running around with candy canes in their mouths. I think about Christmas trees decorating with hanging candy canes. I see my stocking on Christmas morning filled with all different kinds of candy canes.

Candy canes are the perfect gift too! Who doesn’t love candy canes? I remember back in high school when I wanted to get something for EVERYONE. I used to buy a bunch of those tiny red stockings, and then buy a few packs of mini candy canes, and maybe some of those holiday Hershey kisses. I’d fill each stocking to the brim and write names on the outside of the stocking. It was a great present, and it wasn’t expensive either! Which is always good for students (lets face it, most of us are poor!).

Around the Christmas holiday, the halls of my high school were always filled with people eating candy canes. The sweet peppermint taste was always lingering in the hallway. Whenever I eat a candy cane, I’m reminded of Christmas memories from the past. This year will be no different. Nor will the year after. Candy canes will always represent the holiday spirit to me. And there is nothing in this world better than the holiday spirit!

Until next time, this is Kandy K … stay sweet!

My daughter Carylann is 6 years old. During summer break from school she had to go to the Dr many times because of her lymph knodes, the medicine wasn’t working so she had some painful test done and on July 7-2006 she had to go to Peddiatric Hematology-Oncology Cancer clinic for more PAINFUL test. Her test came back normal, she was one of the lucky ones, but not all the kids were as lucky as her. While we were sitting in the waiting room for her test to come back children started coming in the waiting room with no hair ,my daughter looked up at me and said mom those kids need hats so their heads dont get cold. So that night I thought Silly Hats for Silly Wishes…So her twin brother Kyle and her are making Silly Hats for Silly Wishes (make believe wishes that they can make come true.) Churches are makeing quilts, pillows, teddy bears, stuffed dolls, we are collecting coloring books/crayons, games, childrens books. We are making parent goodie bags for all the parents that have to stay at the hospital with their children. We also collect pop can tabs that will go toward the Pediatric Cancer Research. Im always looking at your link on the internet and I thought how cool it would be to get some cool things for the Christmas stockings even if it’s 1 or 2 things thats all Im asking for … or anything you could donate for the children at the Pediatric Cancer Hospital. All kids deserve to smile. I hope you will be apart of this. Im trying so hard to get a head start on the stockings. If you would be interested in helping please email me back and I can give you more information. God Bless you.
